The Vecchitarian Diet...

A very good morning to all!
It's good to see you... I'm just back from a lightning visit to family in Bruges, so I'm recovering from partying, Euro-hopping and 29 degrees in October!!! But without further ado, let me tell you it's Wendy Vecchi Week at Simon Says Stamp & Show! Reason for another party I'd say. From fluttery flowery to quintessential quirkiness, we are celebrating the oodles of loveliness that is Studio 490!

I really wanted to create a fitting tribute to honour Wendy and the joy of artistic expression she exudes, so I created The Vecchi Coat of Arms.
A Coat of Arms is a heraldic symbol of achievement and identity, so just perfect... and as I played around with my Art Parts I could see it all taking shape. I really wanted to achieve a multi-layered dimensional effect and  began by creating a floating Flourish Frame using nuts and bolts to raise the frame from its base. The base has been covered with design paper and generously inked with Stormy Sky and Broken China. The frame is inked up with Rusty Hinge and over-stamped with Alphabetically Art.
My Fanciful Peeking Diva is stamped in Cobalt and rests upon an upturned  Pocket Watch body. She definitely needed some regal head wear which was provided thanks to two wings and a scallop. I inked them up in Ranger Pigment Ink, dried them before adding a few coats of various Distress stains before some stamped detail. I added Butterfly Wings and then glued everything together.

I kept everything supported with foam stacks, chopsticks and a prayer while it dried!
To stay true to tradition I needed some cresting and a motto so I inked up two Art Part Leaves in Rich Mahogany used just two words, stamped onto a Mica scrap. A key to 'unlock creative freedom' adds the final touch.
I've been playing with Wendy's stamps and Art parts for a while now and sometimes you'll find me doing full-on girly and then another time the slightly obscure, and that's just fine. It's all part of my creative expression...I can be whoever I want to be! We all can, be fearless!

I really enjoy the versatility of Wendy's designs and would encourage you to give them a go and discover some new paths! You can get inky, get stamping and play with dimension. Wendy's work does indeed have a distinct style but more than that it's about feeling free to make art and just be! If you fancy having a dabble but are wondering where to start...
Here's something I made Saturday. Just one Wendy butterfly and some scissor time. It's that simple!
For more recipes and tips on the Vecchitarian Diet, take a look at the wonderful work from my Design Team mates on the DT blog. Every week there's a generous $50 prize draw and we hand pick our three top artists! The best of both worlds...
I hope you have fun creating, I look forward to seeing your work. Be yourself, be fearless and enjoy!!! Thanks for being here! I hope that everyone, including Wendy, enjoyed it...

Be seeing you all soon in the realms of Blogdom!
Sarah.
