I need a Hero....

That was a line from an eighties pop song! It is also the theme over at Simon Says Stamp & Show this week. Who is your hero? Mine is my hubby without a doubt but as there isn't yet a stamp of him I decided to to go down the old school Steampunk route! I was very inspired by the opening of the Olympic Games and the fabulous tribute to the Industrial Revolution.
I had plans for something completely different and ended up with a fully loaded card. I started out by creating a metal embossed frame by sticking metal foil tape to cardboard before running it through my Big Shot.
I had to move the frame along the folder and try to match the design). Didn't need to be too fussy as I soon splodged on the Alcohol Inks for a rusty look. Then it was a case of creating a setting for Wendy's fabulous chap who I still adore. I dug into my Idea-ology and metal bits and bobs stash to find lots of goodies.
I set eyelets into the frame and set the frame on a Kraft card base matted with a piece of Kraft Resist paper, adding a few stamped numbers along the way. I cut the clock from scrap corrugated cardboard and aged it with a good dose of Vintage Photo Distress Stain and Rock Candy Crackle. Yum! It's hard to see but I also cut the word INDUSTRY with the Chip Block die to add to the left side.
A corner of concentrated Idea-ology 'metal lovelies' are the perfect decoration, all given a lick of Alcohol ink! I love these Steampunk hands and had to add a couple! I also thought an old metal ruler and some rusty corner pieces looked right at home....
I like to create lots of dimension and layers and popped one hand behind the clock and also added the words imagination, innovation and invention thanks to my fabby old typewriter! Gluing the whole card took a bit of time and my trusty Glossy Accents.
I decided to go mad and decorate the inside - partly because I needed to add some extra weight to get it to stand up! A few shabby layers and a simple greeting! Nice and simple but I think it works... and finishes it off nicely.
So that was my take on heroes... time for you to dig out the Superman suit! Please take a look at the wonderful creations from my teamies here and join in the fun. There's the great $50 prize and Top Three Title to be won! Okidoke...checking out. Thanks for being here!
Sarah.
