Last year at an ArtsyCrafty weekend I asked 'prof' Linda Elbourne what she did in her spare time. "Crafting". Well, have you got a hobby? "Crafting." What do you do when you're not crafting? "Crafting". I spy a pattern. At the time I thought is that not a trifle obsessive? But here I am, wondering how I used to spend 24 hours before my entire mind body and soul became engulfed by the phenomena of "making stuff."
I'm a gonner...never to return and this once house proud lady is even making serious trade-offs to buy time. Joking aside, I really am in deep but I'm embracing every moment. I've rediscovered my creative passion after years of an inner and well-hidden 'flat-line', despite being in the dance world. Glad to say my screen has beeps and peaks once more! Meanwhile back at the ranch, the desk is under heavy fire.
Lots going on with some intensive DT work and from the ashes my tag for Frankie's bird-cage tag swap doth rise. I made it a few days ago which is a miracle as I do seem to love teetering on a deadline.
Beginning of August I had an idea to make a bauble from two birdcage dies which turned out rather well methinks. I wanted to try it with blues this time and Frankie's swap was a great excuse to dabble.
It's what I call modern vintage! Not so many foofs, frills and fancy stuff as usual. I quite like this clean look and I think the blues work really well. You can't go far wrong with blue and white...an oldie but a goodie! Anyway it's winging it's way off to Frankie who creates many a beautiful thing...do take a peek! Thanks for the whole swappy thing! UPDATE. Eeek and sorry! Not supposed to show until next week. Might have to do a sequel...
I also want to say a very robust thank you to many for all the encouragements and reactions to My Mojo Monthly. It does me good and I hope you can gain some new inspiration and creative energy. Here's a photo of one of the project ideas...
That's my Wednesday round-up. Head over to Julia's to join in the desk hop. All are welcome... go on, show us your table! Thanks very much for calling by,
Sarah.
Being addicted to ink likely makes for much more interesting meetings that you have to attend! We recognize each other by the ink stains on our fingers! lol I love the blue and white birdie tag.
ReplyDeleteThat bauble is a FAB idea... loving it... now you have me a bit concerned... a tag to go with the birdcage swap? Errrrm.. I ain't made a tag... should I nip off to rustle one up? See, that is what happens when I don't read the instructions lol Loving your tag BTW, the blues are F A B... and I am waiting on that stamp being delivered to the Room of Stash soon... oh and.. congrats on getting well and truly dragged into the depths of this addiction that is called crafting :O)) Tis my Bloggy Birthday so there are some giveaways on my blog :O))
ReplyDeleteLove the blues and the bauble bird cage, very nice indeedy!! I used to work full time and keep a tidy house... now I just play all day and things get done... sort of!! ;)

Wow another beautiful creation, truly stunning. Lee xx
ReplyDeleteMy addiction to all things inky began in 2009 when I met Tim at a convention he ran here in South Africa. The rest they say is history! It is a foregone conclusion in this house that when I am creating the family has to fend for themselves or risk starving! Jokes aside, it is so good for the soul. Glad you have found your niche.
ReplyDeleteGreat birdcage your made in such à pretty colour. One of my favourites. And being addicted to inkting is better than drugs or so.... Think about that if you are feeling quilty ;-)
ReplyDeleteGreetz, marjolein
Pretty blues in that tag - nice to be an inkaholic when you are a clever one like you!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely Stunning Tag, it certainly does inspire.
ReplyDeleteSmiles:)
Actually, it makes a change to see almost denim blues on a tag/card/whatever. Most blues seem to lean towards pastel which is not my cup of tea. I like your birdcage very much! Glad to hear you're ascending your peaks once more :) xx
ReplyDeleteOoh, thought we weren't meant to show the tags till next week... still, tis lovely!!
ReplyDeleteAt least there is no drying out needed when you're an inkaholic :-)

I'm so happy for you you've found your passion. :) Birdcage looks wonderful!
ReplyDeleteha hahhaa ha
ReplyDeleteit's no good pretending that you want to do anything else.
the desire to create is the strongest of all desires,
and that nagging need to try new ways of making cannot be ignored,
of course obsession is not always healthy, but art is a wonderful sickness - dontcha think?

Loved your post - the tag is just amazing! I hear you saying you caught the creative bug which will never let go! Well it happened to me...I am soooooo hooked!

ReplyDeleteFound you through WOYW and just love your blog. Very talented, you are. Signed up to be a follower - and will definitely take a browse through old posts.
ReplyDeleteLove the tag you have made - glad your mojo monthly is going well I will try and join in soon - I set up some challenges a while ago but they have fallen by the wayside for the time being due to other commitments and I do miss them as they "forced" me (if thats the right word!) to nuckle down and make stuff. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteLoving your bird cage challenge piece! I wouldn't mind receiving that one even if it has been seen!!
ReplyDeleteI so want that stamp set you have used!!
It's a gorgeous tag! This making stuff is quite addicting lol. This morning in the midst of tidying up-ish, I found myself making a book mark for myself. Took all of 5 minutes and tickled myself pink. The monthly mojo is marvelous :D. #83
ReplyDeleteOh I don't mind seeing your swap tag early..it's still lovely - this week or next week! I forgot to photo mine at all! BUT...I did use blues...ha your mojo is finally rubbing off on me, that would be marvellous!!
ReplyDeleteI am noy addicted to ink, just to paper and stamps and ribbon and flowers, and... You get the picture?I was getting a bit worried that I had to have posted my birdcage, but thank goodness its only next week.
ReplyDeleteHappy WOYWW
"My name is Sarah and I'm an inkaholic"!!! I LOVE that!! Think I shall have to adopt that phrase too! Distress inks ROCK... Love your work, and looking forward to having a good look round your blog - I've just spotted your alcohol inked embossed metal - goooorgeous.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great thought provoking post this week. Love your inspired birdcage - why not enter it in the Just for Fun challenge this week which is Vintage? (http://jffchallenge.blogspot.com/)
