A Wendy House???

Well, a little research tells me the original Wendy House was built for J.M. Barry's play Peter Pan. The boy who never grew up... which is proof that enough for me that a little play time is good for all the big girls too. So break out the crafty stuff and indulge. This week at Simon Says Stamp & Show we have en EXTRA special week as we have the uber-fantabulous Wendy Vecchi herself as our guest designer. How amazing is that??? So get down, get inky and get all Studio 490 Stylie!
I never need an excuse to play with Wendy's goodies so l indulged indeed in a multitude of Art Parts and Studio 490 stamp heaven. I'm a number one fan of flutter-bys and girly blooms but decided to go for a different mood this time. The range of Art Parts has grown so much over the last two years and there are just so many to play with. Be it one flower or a whole frame, an ATC or a biggie, you will always have a great time.
I decided to combine the Five Panel Frame with the Dimensional Sign Board ends to create my 'home.' Once I knew that would be a good base, I then set about playing around with the smaller elements. For some reason the Love, hearts and stars made me feel a bit retro. kind of 1950's-ish and that's where this lovely lady came in. She is stamped onto manilla cardstock in Black Archival ink.  I masked off her lips and then inked them up in red. Her face is coloured with a mix of Distress Stains and a little Distress Ink. I couldn't resist a bit of blue eye-shadow, some gold earrings and a Blossom Bucket hair piece!!!
I covered the background board with Mr. Tim design paper and inked it up with Distress ink,  before adding some stamped details that would break up the space.
All the Art Parts are coloured with Distress Stains, edged with Distress Ink and then over-stamped in Ranger Archival Inks using a whole range of various Wendy stamps. Art Parts are really very sturdy so they are the perfect ingredients with which to build a layered, dimensional piece. As always I like to add a wonderful Wendy sentiment as well as throwing in a few Idea-ology trimmings. I like her very much and now just need to find a place for her to reign...

It really is a great week and such an honour to have Wendy designing and creating for us. Don't miss it!!! Rush over to the Design Team Blog NOW to meet Mrs. Vecchi and see more fabulous ideas and inspiration from all my team mates too. Do join in and show us your take on Studio 490 and make a play for the Top Three title or the generous $50 voucher. You don't have to have any official Wendy goodies (although you soon will). Remember:
"Enthusiam is excitement, with inspiration, motivation and a pinch of creativity..." So just be yourself and savour...
Thanks so much for calling by. Until we meet again...
Sarah
