WOYWW? Not a lot, but hooray - a mini giveaway!

Nuffink, zilch, nada! That evacuated corner is all that is to be seen of my desk this week. Freshly painted and already living in fear of a rogue squirt of green Color Wash. Today is the final day of three weeks of upheaval. Amen. I will be reeling off my (s)nagging list today and pointing out the 'could do better' bits. Call me old fashioned, but as a 'hubby at work' damsel, I hate dealing with male builders and cannot face another, "Yes, love..."
Just need to sand the floors, sort through the now widely spread junk, donate half our wardrobe to Oxfam and scoop up the dust with a JCB. I have a make shift crafty space in another room but most of my gear got shifted at one minute to midnight. Crates, pizza boxes, supermarket bags and suitcases... anything with four sides and 'holding' capacity! I feel totally lost, out of sorts and admittedly darn moody. It's "Grin and bear it"... without the grin.
Thankfully, with just a few pots, potions and ink pads, I could rustle up a tag and felt a lot better for doing so. I saw a Go Green theme over at Inspiration Journal so I thought I have a dabble with a colour pallet I don't often use. I used Peeled Paint and Picket Fence Distress Stains with a splash of Lettuce Color Wash too. I added more white splatters with a paint brush before stamping away with my new Tim stamps and a bit of doodling with a white pen. Me liketh green!
Butterflies grunged with a Picket Fence and Rock Candy Crackle mix, then inked with Forest Moss.
A fitting sentiment for this week. Although I felt the urge to scribble 'My craft room' on top of the first four words.
Idea-ology Ball chain connectors add metal detail to the flutterbys, perching gently on stapled string scraps.
Yesterday I just had to escape the dust pit and went shopping looking for big belly clothes. Came back with these! Just a bright set of Funfetti mini stamps and paper from WAMK going cheap. If they're your kind of thing and you fancy them, leave some blurb or sign your name in the dust and next week I'll pick a winner. The second name out of the hat gets to clean my house...! Right I'm off to vent my OCD with the painters...! Head over to Julia's to join in all the desk-hopping antics. Thanks very much for dropping in... Sarah.

  1. I like the "grin and bear it" bit but without the grin!! It'll be worth it in the end, and your tag is just so perfect too. Love green. Cute little stamps, count me in!

  3. You have certainly managed to keep your incredible sense of humor through all this madness. I'm wishing you all the best with this remodel. Hope it gets finished soon. At least you had the supplies to make that lovely tag.

Those stamps are SO cute. I suspect I'll be the person whose name you draw to clean your house, but it's all fun, regardless (grin).

  4. Ah, the upheaval stinks, but I always say it has to get worse before it can get better.

Your newly spruced up space will be lovely and worth it. :-)

Gorgeous tag... it's stunning... and an achievement when you think about all the upheaval and those darn "yes love" builders (who seem to take more tea-breaks than a granny at a cafe) :)

  14. Aw Sarah, the work is a toughie, and I hate it too. I always have dust though, so am use to that...I tell my friends they can write anything except their names; you'd be amazed how that stymies them!! You digressed from the shopping list a bit then>!! Am loving the tag..you know how much I love hwat you do, but I really really love it when you do it in colour colours!

  15. I know what you are going through...When we bought this house, we gutted it and remodeled it all. We had one fabulous builder who was such a blessing.
Luckily my SIL is a counter installer and all his friends are in the trades so we had family friends come in and do the plumbing, cabinets, electrical etc.
Still, it was dusty, dirty, a zillion questions and choices to be made at the drop of a hat...and lots of shopping for items needed whilst answering all the questions.
At the end of it all, I seemed to be washing up the dust from the hardwood floors for months afterwards. Such a fine dust that gets everywhere...even in the china cabinet and cupboards.
It is all worth it in the end and you will be glad that you stayed the course.
Your blog candy is great and would love the chance to win it.
I can't believe you were organized enough amongst all that work to get a tag done.
    You go, girl!

  21. I love that tag, the colours are so fresh and light.

I hate the way builders, plumbers, decorators et al always ask you what they should do, or which you would prefer. I just say, I have no idea that is why I am paying you!
Keep calm and carry on crafting is all I say!

  24. Oh Sarah, it’s never easy when the decorators are in and even harder when they don’t seem to be doing things to your own high standards. It’s does sound like you’re nearing the end thought, so you’ll soon be back where you belong, in your own crafty space.
Love the tag you managed to create. Green’s not a colour I use often either but I’ve no idea why because it always looks so fresh and bright.

    Happy Crafting!

  29. Oh I FEEL your pain, I have decorators back again on 10th April, oh joy. I love your comment about having to deal with the builders, I so dislike it, oh and the making brews too, feel like a waitress. As my house was a tip anyway I made the big mistake of deciding to clear my craft room, so desperately needed sorting. One of those jobs you wish you had never started and now at the stage of just stuffing things anywhere in desperation. Love love your green tag, the white highlights are fabulous as are the butterflies. Try to GRIN, it will all be over soon, that's what I keep telling myself. Tracy x x

Want to see if it's worth all the angst then pop over to my place, you'll see photographic evidence - I love it when a plan comes together :)) Love your tag - green is my all time favourite colour, butterflies are beautiful, and that sentiment is just fab. Hope your day improves and your room shapes up very soon. Elizabeth x #11

  38. Oh I don't want to leave a comment 'cos I'm bound to pulled out second and have to clean your house.... So instead of commenting I am merely reflecting that I have stopped by, acknowledged your incredible tag, patronising builders (It's the law with them btw) and then flitted off to admire other WOYWW desks! Happy Wednesday x

  54. Hi Sarah,

I bet you can't wait to get your artsy room back. When you've got all your supplies moved back in there, you'll think it was worth all the "yes loves"!!!

    ReplyDelete
  55. Oh, Sarah. I don't envy you. It's a nightmare being decorated isn't it, still you've got a man in to do it, I usually have to help himself DIY, not sure which is worse. I hate mess!!!
You made me laugh at being able to rustle up an amazing tag with a few bits and bobs. This would have taken my entire craft room and still not looked half as good. You are so talented.
You'll soon be back in your lovely new space, hang in there.

  69. Love the little stamps they look fab, I would love to have a chance of winning. You poor thing, having no craft room and having to put up with a load of 'yes love', it really irritates me when the male species feel like they can call me love as if I know nothing about anything lol. Be careful if your doing the floor yourself, actually it's really bad me saying that, as there is nothing worse than when your pregnant everyone saying 'you shouldn't be doing that in your condition'. lol. Hope your feeling well, love the tag stunning. Happy woyww :-) Kezzy xx
